As we are now officially in ‘Autumn’ it’s time to start
reflecting. The first few months of the year go by so fast – so may projects on
the go at once. Now it’s time to take stock and see what progress has been made
before the final push of project completions by the end of the calendar year.
The first few months of the year were really hectic, with
the launch of our new performance management software – signalling a big change
from our once a year paper-based appraisal system to a more fluid, web-based
system that strengthens monthly one to ones and has no annual scoring. Launched
in April, early indications were that this was received well, reassuring after
our extensive piloting. Now we’ve had time to survey users we’re about to make
our first significant tweaks, luckily these are easy to make. The full benefit
of reporting instantly on training needs, objectives (at team level for
managers) and at a global level for us in HR are yet to be fully realised and
promoted – but it is this that I am most excited about.
To coincide with this launch, we also pushed through new
employee behaviours (3 tiers, employee, manager and executive) after a
comprehensive consultation round. This meant the first few weeks of the year
felt very frantic, and there is always more to do in terms of embedding, but I’ll
say more about that over the coming weeks.
(Our new performance
management software is called Appraisd for those that want to look it up! We’re
really happy with it, and the customer service we’ve had has been amazing.)
